LETTERS FROM MOTHER EARTH TO THE HUMAN RACE
- 2 -
By David Short
Dear Humanity,
So sorry about the recent maladies. Truly I am. I fear I couldn’t help it. I look back on them with such sorrow. To me they were but sideaches, these, what do you call them? Hurricanes? Typhoons? From the satellite’s view they look like lone white eyes, fearful of the damage they’re about to inflict. Horrifying, really, once you think of them that way. Your horror, I know is much worse, though. Possibly 100,000 dead, I heard, this morning in Burma. If only you would listen to me, we might stop this together! I better calm down now. I’m feeling a bit feverish. I’m melting up north. Did you hear? Those poor polar bears must be feeling a bit on edge. Well, I don’t want to trouble you with all that. I know you’ve had a tough week. Still, I just wanted to apologize.
My sympathies,
M.E.
